A picnic is something that all of us look forward to, a day full of sunshine and laughter away from home. A picnic is really a fun activity to pursue. It could be a picnic for the entire family with the kids and the pet dog too, or it could be a picnic for just the two of you, or it could be a picnic for all friends to come together at. A picnic is something that all of us love and just the thought of going on a picnic will turn even the gloomiest of days into one of great cheer.

But, once you have decided to go on a picnic, the very next thing that you need to do is to plan the nitty-gritty. The better planned is your picnic, the more fun will you have. There are some people who like to be really organized and go ahead and prepare a checklist of the things that they want to take along with them for the picnic. If you don’t want to lose out on the spontaneity and the adventure, then you might not want to go to the extent of preparing a checklist. It ultimately depends on your preferences.

Even if you aren’t comfortable making the entire checklist you must ensure that you keep in mind the relevant things that you need to carry along with you and do just that. The first thing that you must do is to check the weather forecast for that particular day and a day or two ahead and after it too. You don’t want the weather to play spoilsport for you on the day of the picnic.

The things that you might want to consider taking along with you are a blanket or a rug that you would want to spread on the grass at the picnic spot and laze on. This could be either an old rug or blanket, preferably in dark colors so that it does not get dirty easily and washing out the stains of the grass, mud and the food is going to be real easy. Next you might want to consider taking an umbrella along with you. Out in the open the sun can get real strong even in the winter and you don’t want to end up with sun burns.

Along with the umbrella ensure that you take enough of sunscreen lotion with you. This allows you to protect your skin. Also, ensure that you take insect repellents and lotions for any insect bites. This should come along in the first aid kit that you intend to carry along with you. Before you place the first aid kit in the car or the hamper, make certain that you check what is in it and if the medicines and vials have been refilled. You don’t want to end up at the picnic finding out that the first aid kit is empty. Next ensure that you put in lots of towels and paper napkins to wipe your hands on.
