Villa Breaks In Lanzarote
General March 24th, 2010Looking for a sensational villa vacation this summer? Then look no further than the small Canary Island of Lanzarote. Where tourists can enjoy great weather, fantastic food and drink and an abundance of excellent attractions.
Lanzarote is one of the seven islands that form the Canaries archipelago. Once thought to be the remnants of the lost city of Atlantis and now the second most visited region in the whole of Spain. Much of their appeal lies in the fact that these islands are located much closer to Africa than to Europe. Basking in a semi tropical climate that delivers warm weather all year round.
But there´s much more to Lanzarote than just great weather alone. The island boasts over 90 beaches and excellent accommodation. With over 200 hotels in Lanzarote for visitors to choose from. As well as a fine selection of Lanzarote villas and apartments for those who prefer self-catering breaks.
There are three main holiday resorts on the island – along with the small marina at Puerto Calero which is home to a handful of hotels and villas. Whilst rural tourism is also popular. But the majority of visitors will find themselves staying in either Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca – which are the two largest resorts on the island. And which account for the bulk of Lanzarote´s 1.4 million annual tourist visitors.
Puerto del Carmen is the oldest resort on Lanzarote and is located just a short hop from the main island airport. And has developed around the harbour in the Old Town which still lies at its heart.
Playa Blanca is around forty minutes drive from the airport and is located right at the southern tip of the island. Just across the Bocaina Straits from the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. This is the fastest growing resort on the island – and as result is something of a Lanzarote property hot spot – as investors buy up villas here to use as holiday homes or to rent out to other tourists.
Wherever they stay visitors soon discover that the island is very small – which makes it easy to get around and see all of the resorts and attractions. Indeed for such a small island Lanzarote offers a large amount of things to do – as well as loads of great beaches and picturesque villages. Lanzarote also has a vibrant capital city called Arrecife which is home to around 40% of the local population of 140,000 residents.
